While the history of early education often focuses on a handful of well-known White and disproportionately male leaders, the contributions of teacher leaders and so many other women today and over the past century and half are seldom noted. The leadership of many Black women in particular has been erased and ignored for too long. CSCCE Director Emerita Marcy Whitebook has embarked on a project to develop profiles of women who have been vital to early care and education throughout the United States, highlighting their contributions and leadership for children, families, and the ECE workforce.
