Child Care Employment Sees Small Increase With 4,500 Jobs Added

BERKELEY, CA —Child care sector employment continues to inch upward as 4,500 jobs were added in February (and after accounting for the previous January estimates being adjusted downwards). Yet the sector’s employment today remains 5.7% below what it was in February 2020, just before the onset of the pandemic, according to analysis by the Center for the Study of Child Care Employment (CSCCE) at UC Berkeley.

Today’s release is based on the latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) jobs report.
