Devika worked with CSCCE as a consulting statistician for two years before joining the research team full time in 2016. Her work at CSCCE focuses on the inter-relationships of work environment, quality of child care and the well-being of the early childhood workforce. Her interests lie in disentangling these relationships to inform policy and advocate for better work environments for early educators. Devika earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Southern California, where she focused on the genetic and environmental bases of externalizing behaviors through different stages of development. This work led her to recognize the significance of early environmental factors in development and instigated her interest in the early childhood education field.
