Julian is in his first year as a Master of Public Policy candidate at UC Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy. He joins CSCCE with 8 years of experience in education, working as an educator, instructional coach, and policy analyst. Over the past year and a half, Julian has worked in the Oakland Mayor’s Office on the Oakland Promise: A cradle-to-career initiative that seeks to dramatically increase the number of college graduates from Oakland. In this role, he was responsible for several projects, including community engagement, managing partnerships, social media, communications, and developing the long-term organizational structure for Oakland Promise. He was also in charge of stakeholder engagement during the policy formulation stage of Measure AA–a city measure that would dramatically expand pre-school and college access services in Oakland. Julian holds a B.A. in Political Science and Dramatic Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s in Education from the University of Colorado Denver.
